Dog walks at Westonbirt Arboretum

Living in the Cotswolds we are just a short drive away from Westonbirt Arboretum, therefore for years it has been a favourite place for walking my dogs.

Located just outside of Tetbury it is set in 600 acres of land, with more than 17 miles of footpaths for you to explore. If you’re a dog lover over half of the Arboretum is dog friendly, with the other part remaining dog free for those who want a day out without being around dogs. However for those of us who adore our four legged friends Silk Wood is the most beautiful area to walk in. Once inside the entrance dogs can roam off lead if well behaved and there’s so many paths for you to take you could walk for hours if you wished.

If you’re visiting the Cotswolds I highly recommend it as a day out. Firstly because it is easy to drive to, with a large car park included in your entrance fee. The paths inside are so well maintained that no matter what the weather is throughout the year it’s safe and easy to walk on, as well as being so accessible for wheelchairs and prams. There are also mobility scooters you can reserve at the welcome building so friends and family can join you on the longer distances.

If visiting at a weekend entrance prices are as follows:

Adult £16
Child (5-18) £4
Child (0-4) FREE
Personal Assistant FREE

(Prices will rise during peak season 01 Oct – 12 Nov for the Autumn colours)

However if like us you live nearby or think you’ll be a frequent visitor then the Friends of Westonbirt Membership is a great option.

The Friends of Westonbirt Arboretum is a registered charity established to protect trees and enrich lives at Westonbirt. With a Friends of Westonbirt Arboretum membership you support conservation, education and participation to help connect people with trees while ensuring over 100 tree species, which are endangered in the wild, are safeguarded for the future.

A single membership for the year is £45 or joint membership for £85. So a membership for the year costs less than 3 visits to Westonbirt with normal entrance fees. For me this is perfect as I can walk there as many times as I want during the month whether it’s a weekday or weekend!

Friends of Westonbirt Arboretum membership includes:
– Unlimited entry to Westonbirt, The National Arboretum
– Kids go free*
– 10% discount in the Westonbirt Shop when you spend over £10
– Earlybird booking to Forest Live and Christmas at Westonbirt
– Discounted entry to partner gardens, including Kew
– Bi-annual Westonbirt Magazine
– Monthly eNews with the latest Westonbirt news
*Bring up to four children or grandchildren for free aged 18 and under

On site there is also a Cafe and multiple Tea and Coffee vans for snacks and refuelling after a walk in the fresh air.

Let us know when you have visited!
