The Peacock, Oxhill

Last week we travelled out to the South of Warwickshire for the afternoon to visit the dog friendly pub – The Peacock. A lovely journey on the way through a couple of gorgeous Cotswold towns, it should have been quick and easy. However 5 sets of road works and 2 closed roads we eventually arrived ready for our meal and the dogs desperate to get out of the car.

As it was Friday lunch time there was a small buzz of people inside the pub but it wasn’t too busy, perfect for us to relax with the dogs and enjoy our meal. With the dogs we sat in the front of the pub rather than the main seating area, but that was no problem as we had a lovely window seat out of the way.

The girls behind the bar were so helpful and even brought the dogs a biscuit each to enjoy. We spotted the pub dog Henry who was happily patrolling for any stray crumbs [What a dream job for a labrador!].

Now for the food – What a selection there was! We shared a special to start which was Pate with caramelised red onion marmalade and warm toast, & what a delicious way to begin the meal.

Then for mains I had Pan Fried Chicken Breast, Boulangere Potatoes, Spring Onions, Carrots, Peas & Jus.

Whilst my mum chose Real Ale Battered Cod Fillet, Pea Puree, Chips & Tartare Sauce.

What a treat for us to visit, I couldn’t fault any part of the meal, it was lovely & I will definitely be going back for more! Are you nearby? Why not pop along on lunchtime or evening & bring your dogs along – be sure to let us know what you have.
