The Game Fair alternates between the Warwickshire and Hertfordshire venues & this year it was back at Ragley Hall, Warwickshire, just up the road from us for its 60th year.
They seemed to be very unfortunate with the weather this year and certainly had it all which I think did affect the number of visitors to the show. We were meant to head along on the Friday as it is usually quieter in the week because most people are at work. However with the temperatures over 30 degrees if we just went for the first hour it would have been too hot even then and we wouldn’t have made it round the whole show. So we dodged the rain showers and somehow managed a whole afternoon there keeping dry! Because it was meant to be heavy rain all day I left my camera at home, we all carry around good camera’s in our pockets so for this blog post it is all iPhone images.
One of my favourite shows of the year as it is full of spaniels, labradors and every other gundog breed – absolute heaven and the perfect country day out. There are scurries and demo’s by some of the country’s best dog trainers, definitely something to admire with my Gundog who’s never gone down that line of work.
As well as the various demonstrations and displays around the show the main attraction is the shopping opportunity. There are so many stores from around the country selling luxury products, from clothing, to furniture. You could pick up a new car, shooting equipment or artwork for your house.
It’s such a dog friendly show you can bring the whole family along, but for me I just love being amongst all the gun dogs so I only took Woody. He just adored being an only dog for the day, and shows are one of his favourite days out as there are so many people to fuss him and say hello.

We caught up with a few familiar faces at the show; the first being Cotswold Raw. We’ve been following them around all the shows this summer, the dogs now eat their food and go absolutely crazy for it! If you want to read a bit more about the raw diet read our last blog post here – One month on Cotswold RAW.
The Lounging Hound were also there, we saw them at last years Game Fair too after working together. They have the most beautiful luxury dog products which we’ve blogged about a couple of times here and here. Woody could have stayed on any of the dog stands for the day, he’s the perfect promo dog bringing in the crowds! He could have stayed with the Lounging Hound ladies all day snuggled up on their sofa!
If you fancy going along to the 2019 show, next year it is being held at Hatfield House in Hertfordshire on the 26th – 28th of July.
Thanks for reading,
Megan, Woody & Wilma
